OC-SENSOR Sample Collection
Simple, consistent sample collection for quantitative FIT and faecal calprotectin testing using one collection device.
One collection device. Two complementary biomarkers.
The OC-SENSOR collection device supports quantitative FIT and faecal calprotectin testing from a single stool sample, helping simplify gastrointestinal testing pathways.
Designed for patients and laboratories, the device combines consistent sample collection, analyte stabilisation and compatibility with automated analysis on the OC-SENSOR PLEDIA.
By supporting both biomarkers through one collection system, OC-SENSOR helps streamline sample collection and laboratory workflows while providing clinicians with complementary information to support gastrointestinal assessment.

Making sample collection simpler for patients
The OC-SENSOR collection device is designed with ease of use in mind. Patients collect a small stool sample by scraping the surface with the sampling probe before returning it to the bottle.
The straightforward collection process supports hygienic sample collection, while the securely closed bottle is ready for transport to the laboratory.

Designed for consistent sample collection
The screw-thread sampling probe is designed to collect approximately 10 mg of stool into 2 mL of buffer. As the probe is returned to the bottle, the narrow opening and integrated scraper remove excess material, helping standardise the quantity of stool collected.
Excess stool is retained within the hollow cap, helping minimise contamination and support cleaner handling for patients and laboratory staff.

Protecting sample integrity from collection to analysis
Maintaining analyte stability between sample collection and laboratory analysis is essential for reliable quantitative testing.
The OC-SENSOR collection device contains a buffer solution designed to stabilise faecal haemoglobin and calprotectin following collection.
In stability studies, faecal haemoglobin demonstrated approximately 95% recovery after 28 days at 4°C and 93% recovery after 14 days at 25°C.
Faecal calprotectin demonstrated 95% recovery after 7 days at 4°C and 82% recovery after 7 days at 25°C.
By supporting analyte stability during storage and transport, the collection device helps preserve sample integrity throughout the testing pathway.

Simplifying gastrointestinal testing pathways
Faecal haemoglobin and calprotectin provide complementary clinical information, with both biomarkers measurable from a single sample collection device.
The OC-SENSOR system supports analysis of both biomarkers on the same OC-SENSOR PLEDIA platform, helping laboratories streamline sample processing and reduce the need for separate collection pathways.
Together, these capabilities support efficient gastrointestinal testing and access to complementary quantitative results for clinical assessment and decision-making.

Designed for efficient laboratory processing
The OC-SENSOR collection device incorporates an integrated filter that helps prevent particulate matter from entering the analyser's sampling system.
Its robust double-wall construction and spill-resistant design support secure handling throughout analysis. The filter and air-lock system eliminate the need for additional sealing with Parafilm after analysis, helping reduce manual handling and save laboratory staff time.
Collection bottles can be loaded directly onto the OC-SENSOR PLEDIA, supporting efficient automated processing.
