Accurate susceptibility testing is essential to guide effective antimicrobial treatment in animals and to support responsible antimicrobial stewardship. The MASTDISCS® AST range includes a dedicated portfolio of specialist veterinary susceptibility discs impregnated with antibiotics approved for use in veterinary practice, including Enrofloxacin, Marbofloxacin, Florfenicol, Tylosin and Cefquinome amongst others. Where resistance profiling is required, MASTDISCS® Combi combination disc sets reliably detect and differentiate ESbL, AmpC and carbapenemase producers.
MRSA detection
The close relationship between companion animals and their owners means that MRSA poses a recognised zoonotic risk.2 The MAST® ALEX-MRSA is a rapid slide latex test for the detection of PBP2 and confirmation of methicillin resistance in Staphylococcus aureus isolates, supporting fast and reliable results directly from culture.
Acute phase protein testing
Monitor infection and inflammation across a wide range of animal species with the Eiken SAA reagent. This sensitive, platform-neutral latex agglutination assay measures Serum Amyloid A in blood serum. SAA responds more rapidly to inflammatory stimuli than other acute phase biomarkers, supporting early detection of infection, tissue injury and disease. Compatible with both manual and automated workflows, it is reactive across a wide range of species including horses, cats, dogs, cattle, pigs, rabbits and a variety of captive and wild animals, based on Eiken in-house data.
