Mast started trading in 1957 and celebrated its 60th year in business in 2017. The UK operation is based at Mast House, formerly Bootle General Hospital, which was originally opened in 1872, but is now complemented by modern manufacturing facilities.

The company was first set up to manufacture antibiotic sensitivity test discs from which the Mast name was derived. Mast is an acronym of Multichrome Antibiotic Susceptibility Test.

Since 1957 the product range has been greatly expanded and we now supply all over the world to customers in hospital, private clinical, public health, and veterinary laboratories. Also, blood banks, food and water testing facilities and many of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies.

Since 1973, a sales, distribution and manufacturing company Mast Diagnostica GmbH has been successfully serving the German and East European market from Reinfeld in Northern Germany.

In 1994 Mast Diagnostic was set up in Amiens, France to offer sales, distribution and service throughout the French in-vitro Diagnostic market.

International markets are serviced by longstanding and respected distributors – many of whom have worked with the company for decades.

Mast has always been proud of its well qualified, highly trained and hard working staff who are dedicated to developing innovative products and helping our customers to detect the increasingly complex antibiotic resistance mechanisms of micro-organisms.
