Industry Insight Day on Antimicrobial Resistance
We were delighted to deliver a keynote presentation at Liverpool Life Sciences UTC’s Industry Insight Day on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), one of the world’s most pressing health challenges.
As a partner of The UTC, we welcomed the opportunity to speak with students about the role of diagnostics in tackling AMR and to support broader engagement with careers in life sciences.
Rebecca Booth, URI and Media Development Manager, introduced students to Mast Group’s history in antimicrobial susceptibility testing. She shared examples from our current product portfolio, including MASTDISCS® AST and URI® Connect urinalysis solutions, which support timely and appropriate treatment decisions.
Her presentation explored urinary tract infections (UTIs) and highlighted the value of accurate diagnostics in reducing inappropriate antibiotic use and limiting the spread of resistance.
The day also saw Year 10 students take part in themed activities across engineering, data analysis, game design and more, developing creative and thoughtful responses to the AMR challenge. We were extremely impressed with the students' projects and we'd like to thank the students and staff at the UTC for inviting us to participate in this excellent event.
